Be honest, who doesn’t love to travel? Thailand is the place to be; where you chuck on a backpack and come to ‘find yourself’. You become ‘that guy’ who’s known for saying “When I was travelling Asia…”. Over the years, it’s become a lot busier for travellers in Thailand, especially in Phuket. Poached Breakfast Cafe
There’s no better way to start our Phuket travel guide than by showing you an awesome place to grab some of the most incredible food on the island. Food can be a bit hit-and-miss in Phuket, but you can trust that it’s always of the highest quality at Poached Breakfast Cafe. You need to make sure you’ve got a trusty, yummy and affordable place to consistently eat when you’re here.
Our Cafe is in a prime location, right in the heart of Chalong; a bustling little town in the central-southern part of the island. It’s full of like-minded travellers and top-class, affordable accommodation. You should stay here if you want to make some travel buddies who are exploring just like you!
We’re close to some of the best tourist activities here, just a few kilometres out from the most beautiful tropical beaches and only a couple of minutes from the pier, where you’ll be going should you wish to explore the glorious Andaman Sea.
Now onto the best part, the food! Our Aussie-inspired menu is full of scrumptious options. You’ll do well to find a better brekkie, brunch or lunch this side of the mainland.
The ‘Pulled Pork Eggs Benny’ is our signature dish, it’s mouth-wateringly delicious, and some would say love at first bite. We top our soft, light homemade sourdough with tender, slow-cooked pulled pork shoulder which falls apart in your mouth, 2 creamy poached eggs, green apple to add a crunch and sweet pomegranate; it pops in your mouth. It’s all smothered in some velvety apple cider hollandaise. After you’ve eaten it once, you won’t be able to stop!
We’ve got a tonne of meat-free dishes too. Even the meat lovers get stuck in, that’s how you know they’re good! Make sure you try out the ‘Avocado smash’; soft, buttery smashed avo on sourdough, with 2 rich, runny poached eggs, salty, crumbly feta and juicy roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes. That’s a dreamy dish if there ever was one, right?
Who doesn’t love a cheat meal every now and then? Even the health freaks do! That’s why we’ve got dishes tailored to those who love to eat a little bit naughty. All the cafes are after our ‘Apple Pie Waffle’ secret formula, it’s that good. We top our fluffy, warm waffle with a generous serving of house-made cinnamon apple pie filling and add a scoop of tasty, thick vanilla ice cream. It’s all drizzled with a silky vanilla custard sauce and dusted in icing sugar. If that doesn’t get you snacky, then we don’t know what will!
Poached Breakfast Cafe has a delicious little something for everyone, that’s why it has to make it into our Phuket travel guide. What even is a travel guide without a dreamy food spot anyway?
Cape Panwa
Cape Panwa is a must in our Phuket travel guide. It’s pretty unknown to travellers at the moment so make sure you get yourself down here before people find out about it. It’s like a portal into the old Phuket over 20 years ago. The beaches are as tropical as they come and the town feels like its own little island off of the coast. It’s got such a chilled vibe, where you can hear the sound of nature and barely any traffic. Get ready to move slowly and embrace the true island life.
Similan islands
Similan Islands are a must-go. It’s not a proper Phuket travel guide if this isn’t on the list. These set of islands are just off the western coast of Phuket, a couple of hours boat ride away. They are ranked in the top ten places to go scuba diving in the world by Nat Geo. The waters are crystal clear and turquoise blue, filled with corals and colourful marine life. You’ll stop off at the islands on the boat trip for lunch and dinner. They’ve got some of the most picturesque white sand beaches in the world. You won’t find another place like it.
Patong
We’ve got to put Patong on our Phuket travel guide, if you go there you’ll understand why. It’s a completely different vibe to the rest of the island and it’s pretty wild! There are tonnes of places to eat, bars, pubs and activities in Patong. There’s also a huge, brand-new shopping centre which is top of the range. The beach has a load of watersports activities such as jet-skiing and kite surfing. It’s lots of fun!
Phi Phi Don
Phi Phi Don is the don of all islands around Phuket. You’ll struggle to find anywhere that represents the jungle island life as much as this place. The tropical oceans are full of huge limestone formations and the island is in the middle of nature. There are so many places to eat and drink, with some of the nicest sunsets you can imagine. Trust us, it’s incredible here.
