Chalong Night Market
Chalong Night Market is a fantastic spot to grab yourself some delicious street food in Chalong. Not far from Home Pro and Wat Chalong, the largest Buddhist temple in Phuket, is a bustling night market full of bright lights, and aromatic dishes that you will fall in love with.
While they’ve got the tourist photo op food with pigs snout or deep fried cockroaches, grasshoppers and spiders so don’t forget to grab a pic (get it quick before you chicken out!), they’re also full of stalls selling the most wonderful local dishes that you will actually want to eat.
Try the ‘mu ping’ (grilled pork on a skewer), and get some of the delicious Thai fried chicken and sticky rice to start. Of course, you’ll want to pick up some ‘som tam’ (papaya salad) for a zingy, zesty and refreshing palette cleanser. Try the refreshing ‘popiah’ which are rice noodle spring rolls with a delicious sauce and tuck into a warm plate of rice and a stir fry like ‘khua kling’.
Don’t forget to finish off this culinary adventure with a sweet roti for dessert. So delicious! There’s a reason this spot is first on our list for street food in Chalong.
Mor Mu Dong
Street food in Chalong served in a restaurant with a wild setting, Mor Mu Dong feels like you’ve stepped off the beaten track and into the good old days. You feel as if you’ve stumbled on a jungle hut in the middle of nowhere as you sit by the lake under a dried grass roof. The vibe here is so quintessentially Thai, it’s worth going even just for that.
But the food…oh wow the food is epically delicious. Especially the seafood. Aromatic fish and seafood dishes that are full of fresh, vibrant flavours with a perfect balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and sour. There’s so many wonderful dishes to try – all your street food in Chalong favourites are here and they are so fantastic. This spot is definitely worth a visit.
Go Benz
Located just outside of Chalong, in Phuket Town, Go Benz serves up some delicious food like their ‘Khao tom haeng’ – their dried rice porridge. It sounds simple but it’s laden with spectacular flavours and lots of wonderful textural components. Of course, they also serve up pork soup with hand rolled rice noodles and a fantastic crispy pork dish that you will come back for time and time again. We know we do!
Open at dinner time until the wee hours of the morning, this spot is a perfect place for a late night snack! Visit, and you’ll see why this is one of the best spots for street food in Chalong.
Poached Breakfast Cafe
Okay, so we don’t strictly serve street food in Chalong, or really any street food at all but, if you’re not in the mood for street food, then you’ll have to pop into Poached Breakfast Cafe. Even if you know you’ll be hitting up the street food stalls in the evening, you’ll want to spend your morning eating your fill in our relaxing cafe.
Street food in Chalong is spectacularly delicious but the portions are also teeny tiny. What is this, a portion for ants?! (That’s a Zoolander reference for any of you less discerning readers out there.) It’s a lot of fun to try all the mini portions but it definitely can leave you hungry so we recommend filling yourself up a little bit more in the morning or at lunchtime so you can peacefully explore the food markets without rushing in or being too hangry to enjoy the experience. I’ve been to these places hangry and it’s not the most fun thing, I’ve got to say.
So, what are you hoping to fill up on? We’ve got an awesome Melbourne-inspired menu with loads to choose from. You could start with our famous banana bread that is the very best of the Aussie cafe classic this side of the outback. Warm, toasty and smothered in melted butter, this is comfort food at its finest.
If you’re stopping by for brekky, you’ll want to have a go at our fantastic range of breakfast dishes. Check out our infamous pulled pork eggs benedict: it’s fresh homemade sourdough toast, covered slow roasted pork shoulder that falls apart to the touch, zingy green apple slaw to cut through the richness, smothered with velvety apple cider hollandaise, and topped with creamy poached eggs, fresh mint and pomegranate seeds. YABBADABBADOOOO!
And don’t forget the breakfast classic: smashed avo on fresh homemade sourdough toast, topped with roasted fresh tomatoes, crumbly, salty feta and 2 perfect poached eggs. And if that STILL doesn’t whet your appetite, why not think about our fantastic breakfast burrito with smokey scrambled eggs, zingy avocado and tomato salsa and the perfect spicy house sausage. Calienté!
If healthy is more your style, why not tuck into our quinoa power porridge topped with cinnamon and apple, or take a bite of our prana chai breakfast parfait with homemade granola and fresh fruit. We personally love the overnight oats topped with chocolate and berries.
For those of you visiting at lunchtime, we’ve got STILL MORE delicious food for you to try. Check out our awesome selection of burgers, sandwiches and bagels. We are particular fans of the ‘Holy Halloumi Bagel’ which is the homemade signature bagel, smothered with smoked bbq cream cheese, pan fried halloumi, onions and pickles. Or why not tuck into one of our 3 delicious juicy burgers, stacked high with high quality ingredients and with a side of crispy thick chips.
Again, for our healthy friends out there, we’ve got some wonderful salads. We love the grilled chicken Cobb salad with crumbly, sharp blue cheese, smothered in a creamy ranch dressing. And, of course, our fantastic feta, quinoa, beetroot, and roasted pumpkin salad, tossed with our house made balsamic dressing.
Plus, we have the very best coffee this side of the mainland. It’s worth travelling from all over for. Trust me on this. So, with the most amazing coffee, delicious food and high quality ingredients, it’s well worth stocking up on some food before heading off to some stalls for some great street food in Chalong.
